Paul Clements-Hunt, head of the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), will leave next month after more than a decade in the role, Environmental Finance has learned.

Geneva-based Clements-Hunt has will depart the UN on 29 February, he told Environmental Finance, but declined to say why he was leaving or what his plans are. He said it was too early to talk about his replacement.

Paul Clements-Hunt: leaves UNEP FI next month

He was appointed head of unit in 2000, after a spell as the environmental policy manager for the International Chamber of Commerce.

The UNEP FI is a partnership between the UN and more than 200 financial institutions, aimed at improving the sustainability of the finance sector.

Among its achievements, the organisation has devised the Principles for Responsible Investment – a framework for investors to consider environmental, social and governance issues in their investment decisions – that almost 1,000 asset owners, investment managers and service partners have signed up to.
