Virgin Money Launches Climate Change Fund
Source: GreenBiz.com

OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 29, 2007 -- Virgin Money is the latest financial service company looking upon climate change as a prime investment opportunity.

In January, it will launch the Virgin Climate Change Leaders Fund, a product that will support companies that either have a light environmental footprint or work toward environmental challenges.

"This will be Virgin''s first new fund in 12 years and it will be worth the wait," said CEO Jayne-Anne Gadhia in a statement. "Customers will be able to invest in companies at the forefront of reducing their environmental footprint but without having to compromise on performance."

Virgin Money will rely on GLG Partners LP to advise the fund, which is expected to attract those searching for investment opportunities in businesses that deliver environmental focus and strategy.

GLG, which also manages the GLG Environmental Fund, will use environmental research from several sources, including Trucost.

"The Virgin Climate Change Leaders Fund provides investors the unique ability to combine a commitment to environmentally sound investing with the competitive advantages of the GLG Partners investment process," said Ben Funnell, a GLG co-founder.

Virgin established Virgin Money in 1995 as its financial arm.
