The UK''s Pension Protection Fund is to start publishing its UK voting records in an attempt to highlight its adherence to environmental, social and governance principles.

"We are demonstrating our commitment to key PPF strategic objectives; being principled and open in our actions," said Martin Clarke, director of financial risk at the PPF, which manages £1.5bn (€1.9bn, $2.8bn) of assets.

A handful of European asset managers currently publish their voting records, including Norges Bank Investment Management, Morley, Hermes, Insight, Co-operative and F&C Investments, which has won the mandate to provide voting and advice on responsible investment to the PPF.

"Responsible investing means investors need to exercise their voting rights in a diligent and informed way," said George Dallas, director of corporate governance at F&C.
