Financial Standard: EAI merges with PRI

Enhanced Analytics Initiative (EAI) and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) are joining forces to create a $15 trillion asset under management investment research firm.
Both EAI and PRI initiatives aim to achieve better long-term investment returns by assessing the impact of extra financial issues (EFIs), which include corporate governance and climate change, on the company and its performance.
EAI''s membership includes US based CalSTRS, UK based BT Pension Scheme and locally based UniSuper, VicSuper and HESTA Super fund.
The decision to combine both initiatives follows an agreement in January last year to work together.
"This extension of the existing collaboration agreement will offer PRI the opportunity to make use of EAI''s experience in order to translate its principles into execution," said Donald MacDonald, PRI chair.
"This will enable us to build on the work EAI has done since inception, allowing us to gain further traction in continuing to encourage the lasting integration of EFIs into the investment decision making process on an international basis."
EAI will be re-branded under the PRI banner and it will also have to change some of its processes in-line with the latter initiatives procedures.
"The opportunity to join forces with the PRI will allow us to internationalise and extend the call for EFI research with the benefit of PRI''s global reach and broad signatory base," said Peter Scales, EAI chair.
